Worship Place in Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville

This project involves the development of a new worship complex, including a worship hall, courtyard, dormitory, parking lots and the adaptive reuse of an existing house as an accessory structure. The worship place serves as a spiritual and cultural centre in the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville, located in the northern Greater Toronto Area.

ZEL was retained to provide civil engineering services in support of the Official Plan Amendment and Zoning By-law Amendment applications. Working within site constraints and environmental sensitivities, the ZEL team developed innovative servicing, grading, and stormwater management solutions in accordance with the engineering guidelines of Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville, Region of York, and Conservation Authority.

• Evaluated and confirmed appropriate servicing connections to existing municipal water and storm infrastructure.
• Implemented stormwater quality controls through on-site oil-grit separator installation and conducted phosphorus budget analysis, in compliance with guidelines of Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville and Conservation Authority.
• Applied quantity control measures to ensure post-development runoff does not exceed pre-development levels.
• Developed water balance strategies and Low Impact Development (LID) techniques to support groundwater recharge.
